As to cooling, get an alternate temp thermostat. Go through the cooling system, have the radiator re-cored, and put on a heavy duty fan clutch. I run around 180-188 in the Alabama summers.

1 in Body lift would work just fine, keeps you from needing castor corrected arms and the like.

As to the non-rust, pull the carpet and check the front floorboards. Where the front Mud flap brackets mount, they like to rust.

Scrap the bluetooth odb2 idea and just get an ultragauge. I hated having to open torque or a similar app, connect and keep my phone there to watch temps.
Thanks, it does have a little bit of rust in some of those areas but for the most part shes rust free. Rad has already been recored with new hoses. I will look into the HD fan clutch, and do you mean switching to the 180F thermostat?

Thanks I will probably do that right away then. I will only be driving it in the summer so everything will be setup for those temps, including a slightly heavier engine oil and trying to keep the engine cool.

So a bit of an update for everyone following this build, I pulled the entire interior in search of rust and apparently the rust is tough to see from underneath because even upon a close inspection from underneath when I purchased it I wasnt able to see any of the rust that it has. Its definitely fixable, but it will set me back a little bit more than I was hoping. Other than that there has been lots of progress, brake lines are all replaced and calipers are being rebuilt. CDL is working and smooth, and the rest of my parts are coming in tomorrow so should be able to make lots of progress this week.

passenger side isnt too bad.

driver side is pretty bad, itll need an outer rocker and some floorpan work, as well as some new metal on the seat support.

Yes definitely not going to just let it die, a little bit of metal work and she will be good as new. And itll never be driven in the winter again so that will help a lot.
