Default Door alarm will not stop!

My son's 97 DI has an annoying problem. The steady tone that you get when a door is open will not stop. I've tried the hood and every door. Is there anyway to turn this off? Anyone know which fuse? Or ...... is it an audible alarm for something completely different? It started out of the blue. It was sitting for about a week. The battery was dead ... we charged it. Then the noise started. Any ideas?

I feel deprived. My 97 does not have a door adjar warning tone, but does have one associated with the seat belt. This comes from the MFU (Multi Function Unit), which is the size of a pack of cigarettes and stuck on the back of the fuse panel under the dash. This same tone is used to alert for various things in different markets of the world. But if you kill power to it lots of other things quit working.

Perhaps one of you door switch units is grounded? You can take them out of the door frames, just a simple normally open copper switch that shorts to frame ground when door open. I unplugged mine under the hood, too much chance of dead battery - jump off - immobilzation.

Pix shows internal view, the black round thing in lower right is a piezo sounder.

I recall the same buzzer tells you that the difflock is engaged at startup, or maybe the transfer case in neutral. But I'm sure it would stop after a few sec. Check that and then I would guess the door switch is sticking, is the dome light staying on also?

Weird. My '98 doesn't have a door ajar or seatbelt tone. Or it does and they don't work, LOL.

Thanks for the input. For some reason it just stopped! I'll be checking on the door circuits and now I know where to focus. Thanks
