Default Driver door stuck shut (not a linkage problem)

I've replaced springs and adjusted linkage in 3 doors already so I know about those problems, but recently my driver side door has decided it doesn't want to open. The inner and outer handles bot move but wont open the door, even if i pull up on the locking tab. I managed to get the door card off with he door stuck shut and have been able to get my hands inside and see that the linkage meets with the internal latch and I've tried to engage it manually with my hands but nothing budges. My guess is that the latch is toast but I don't know how to remove it without opening the door. am I destined to hop over the passenger seat for eternity?

You mentioned door springs. This happened with my door and i kept quickly pulling on the outer handle until it caught. Right after that i replaced the spring immediately.

Best of luck.

Unfortunately that hasn't helped, been a few days like this now. when i get a day off I think I'll try and get back in there and try and engage it. otherwise ill be trying to unscrew the latch and see id i can pull it free from the catch but I fear trrying that might just get me into a worse mess.
I want to avoid a dealership because last time they kept my car for 2 months.

Since you have the door panel removed try to move the latch release either by rolling the window down and accesing it that way if possible or pull the exterior moulding up once the window is down and press a long flat blade screw driver or some type of rod. I believe it should be pushed down.

If you can get in there, spray it down with some lubrication. Mine gets stuck occasionally and if I spray it down inside where the latch is, it will start working again. Mine seems to work OK from the inside.
