My Discovery 1, 3.9 l V 8 Auto 1997 model is now also giving me this stalling problem, as I approach a Stop street or a Robot it it dies on me. Sometimes, driving at 65 mph / 110 km/h, it simply stalls, and I have put it in neutral and try to restart which sometimes work, other times I must pull off the road and restart.
What has sorted this embarrassing situation out ?

I had the same issue last year and come to find out it was due to bad gas. I put a product called K100 fuel treatment in the gas tank and the issue went away immediately.

97 should be a GEMS 4.0L and maybe you need your base idle set/adjusted. Make sure the stepper motor is clean, and if possible you can get the adaptive settings reset. Not sure about the stalling at speed though, that could be fuel related.

Best 4x4, I certainly have a 1997 3.9 V8 Auto Land Rover. It was brought by the previous owner from England to South Africa.

Ok still have the IAC cleaned. When they stick or get dirty the idle on a 3.9L dizzy River V8 can suffer.
