Savannah, do you have this same document for the Bosch 4.0?

On another note, is the whole open/close loop thing on the UG is backwards and has a lot of people confused. By definition, an open loop controller makes adjustments a setpoint variable (like your air/fuel mix) without feedback (as would be the case when you ECU runs its warm up problem and injects a constant amount of fuel). A closed loop system interprets feedback and automatically adjusts the set point (as the case when the ECU reads your temp/O2 data and makes adjustments to the air/fuel mixture).

You want your truck to run in closed loop at normal operating temps but you will never get there if your ECU thinks you're still in warm up mode.
Yes, of course this makes perfect sense...I never was much of a controls guy but I guess had I thought about it for more than 2 secs perhaps I'd have realized this. I'll blame it on the UG throwing me off. ; )

I hope to get to the cooling system this weekend but this is not my daily driver so I'm not suffering. Still sucks to take a short run to the shop and burn 4 gals of gas though. I will be most certain to post follow up on all this too.

Thanks again for all the replies, very helpful!

Are you taking into account the diam difference in that? Just curious, it's quite a bit of course. I think I'm going to go ahead and replace plugs/wires and possibly coil packs. I've not looked into the coil packs...looks like 1/cyl pair so QTY 4 needed. Anyone know what the OEM brand is...Lucas, Bosch, other, ??

Cheers.

This checks that the engine has gone into closed loop fuelling within a given time, (the engine coolant information is the only sensor it depends upon).

GEMS ECU manual attached, more that most want to know about O2s, codes, etc.
Thanks dude, I dl'd the manual, I'll have to flip through this the next time I'm visiting the oval office.

Cheers.

one guy downloaded the RAVE and printed the shop manual... I always thought you should get an 80 inch flat screen so it can be viewed easily in the shop during commercials...
