Look in the tech section there is something about distributors and a rebuild definitely need coil wire replaced

Is there rust in the coil where the ign wire goes?

I think the cats and O2's don't have many miles on them. I'm pretty sure they were replaced right before I bought the thing. That being said, I'm still not positive. I'm really starting to lean toward something like this though because WOT should be open loop (runs good) and normal driving closed loop (runs rough).

It does have a CEL but it's always had a CEL ha ha. I need to take it to the parts store and have them read it.

Did you try and clean your MAF before you replaced it?
Honestly I have tried to clean two MAFs with the correct cleaner (1 in Rover and another in my other vehicle) and it didn't make a difference in either. Neither MAF came back to life. But I have read that others have had success.

Yeah I've heard it works for some. Mine was pretty clean to begin with.

I read that the MAF element is heated and gets Super hot when you turn the ignition. Then if you clean it the glass gets tiny cracks in it. I can barely read the screen on my phone so I have no idea about micro cracks but the advice was to leave keys out overnight before cleaning one.

I ignored the advice, of course, so I have no idea whether it is correct.

But I do know that the 33.50 MAF for discovery IIs on Amazon works like a charm and saves money for other repairs, which are endless. I am sorry to be supporting the Peoples' Republic of Wherever, whence it is made.

I'm going to have to be quiet here because I am stretching my understanding of your engine. But my problems were the same and a new MAF and o2s fixed it. Luckily I haven't had to replace the fuel pump but on mine there is a valve for testing it at the back of the intake, hidden from sight and usefulness.

Sorry I can't be more help. It was a misery when my Rover was running bad. I sympathize. When it is running good you will be happy AND accomplished.

If you need really technical help, hit up DiscoMike (he will ask you to send your number and he will call you; it is worth it), army Rover, or Antichrist. Those guys could make a functioning Rover out of cake batter.

So a DII MAF will work on my DI? Or do you have a DII and I need to find a DI?

If I don't have any luck tomorrow I'll PM one of those guys.

Thanks

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure I let my MAF cool down long enough. I cant imagine it staying hot for more than 20-30min. I think it only gets to only 200F.

Guessing dizzy is distributor, looks like tech just shows the vacuum advance change, would be nice if someone familiar with your earlier disco would chime in but need engine codes

Charley, what year is your LR? Will this actually work? It says it will but the plug looks different to me.
