Yes it would add up over time, but that 1.2mpg increase was all expressway.
Last week driving it back and forth to work resulted in no MPG increase, the increase was the 150 miles of expressway driving to the inlaws.

This last summer mine only locked up while in city traffic, so I dont know how much increase one would get with no clutch fan on a Rover because as we all know you can watch the fuel gauge move while sitting at a stop light. lol

Could be that there was more weight in the driver's seat on the way back....
