fast idle and brake lights
Well there is a Adam Sandler song I am singing about this discovery that I will not name here on the forum!
Starts out that i get my scan gauge from me vw and then start the disco.
Plug in the scan gauge and it seems to work
Ok, water temp is coming up Rpm over 2k due to being cold, I see that the throttle positioner is at 12 while idling, hmm that is strange, check the throttle cable, seems loose can't seem to lower it by hand. I decide to
Turn off and then do then turn to first position and then back off .
Turn back on and get absolutely nothing. No dash light, scan gauge wont
Even turn on! Ughhhh! Help!
Typing on phone so this might be choppy

Ok I had to turn into supertech. Went back to basics with my trust dmm. I was getting low volts in several places, checked all fuses. Under hood battery had 12.4 v. Decided to measure the voltage to the fuse block under the hood. 3v! Turned out the 2nd dary wire on the positive side of the battery was massively coroded. Cleaned up wires. Coated in dielectric grease and bam. Started! Hurray!
Now back to my current delima, the scan gauge keeps saying the throttle position is at 12 at idle. That woul give me above high Rpm's. So is here a way to zero the throttle position? Cables are loose

I keep having a bad feeling about the cruise
Control vacuum, mine is disconnected at the throttle and the hoses
Out of the fire wall are broken, where does the cruse get the vacuum
From?

Cruise gets it's vacuum from a pump under driver headlight. Cruise is not connected to engine vacuum at all. No worries there.
Rough running now after a wash might be a wet ECU. It's under a black plastic half cover by the windshield washer bottle. Large connector, can't miss it. Top and bottom cover come off (or side covers depending on how you hold it).

here's page on volts to expect at the TPS (yours is a GEMS). This is not an easy to get to location. If you have a scanner, you can see the same info by switching on the engine but not cranking. Scanner will show TPS %, move gas pedal and see if changes are smooth, or numbers bounce all over the place.
Well the new option of doing nothing is slowly working!
We drove around today and the idle came to less than 1000 in gear with brake on. In neutral it is around 1400 now. I think we will just drive it for now and see what happens! Next, driver and passenger windows!
