Finally happened to me
I'm not sure that part is supposed to come off the glass. When I replace the motor on my D2, I just took the two bolts out at the bottom of the window, and the pushed the window up and held it in place with masking tape while I worked on the regulator and motor.
You want first dibs?
I just need to replace that part, no big deal as I left the door apart and just used making tape to hold the plastic liner in place, then bolted the door handle back in and its good to go until I get the part.
In the mean time I just will not roll the window down.
Here is a pic of the storm that was supposed to hit today.
But it went south and blanketed the ground with snow and hail, they said there were water spouts in Lake Michigan too.
So I've been cruising e-bay looking for my part and I dont even know what its called. lol
Also, the window regulators are cheap new, like $50 with free shipping, swap over your motor and you are good to go.
So why bother fixing a broken roller or buying brass rollers?
I did not know they were so cheap.
Doea anyone know the name of the part I am looking for?

Maybe, I found the piece on e-bay, it comes with the window which of course I dont need.
$50 for the glass, $25 for shipping.
Not doing that.
I sent those guys a e-mail asking about just the channel as they are a Rover dismantler.
I am going to ask one of my customers on Mon, they are a auto junk yard, they will know and maybe even have one.
Then I am going to talk to the guy I know who restores European cars and see what he says.
If I do have to buy the whole glass then I have a plan for that.

That's the part Slang. The pita will be installing to the glass. That brings me to another point, if the drivers side looked that bad how do the other three look?
I call dibs. There's a 98 downstate on CL that the owner only want's a grand for with 182k. Unmolested, straight body, great paint and mint interior. The rest is the usual, death wobble, misfires, etc., etc.. Was maintained by dealer until they gave up shoveling money into it. I believe it's 1k obo and dark blue. Save your pennies.
