Finally happened to me
Well I talked to my friend Dave at European Auto Restoration - Mercedes Benz, Alfa Romeo, BMW, Volvo, Volkswagen, Saab, Fiat, Lancia, Citroen... and showed him the pic of the window channel.
He told me exactly what to do, remove the old channel, clean up the rubber, buy a tube of "glass weld", its the stuff they use to install windshields, it comes in a caulk tube and you use a calk gun.
Small bead on the bottom of the window channel, set the rubber in, small bead on the top of the rubber, run the window all the way up making sure the glass is seated properly.
Let it sit for 24 hours without moving the window.
He said Mercedes Benz are notorious for this too and that is what he does.
The factory crimps the window channel onto the glass, we cant do that.
He said that if the window channel is not rusted through you can rebuild it, then use the glue and you are good to go.
I am going to order the channels this week.

you're over thinking it. you'd kill me if i did that on a critical part! i followed your thread.
mine was rusted right through. split at the bottom. no repair possible. i remember it being a super tight fit and not worrying at all whether it would separate again. but that kind of thinking got me in trouble before.
all's good on the D2 electrical front. fried the battery and paid Guillo to solder all my wires together. except for the small flame coming out the tailpipe....

Small FLAME?
Flame and Rovers don't do well together although that seems to be factory engineering, the ghost of Lucas is always present no matter who owns the company.
JATO - Jet Assisted Take Off........(used on C-130's for short runway take-offs). Decreases the 0 to 60 time from stop light to stop light to 44 seconds, two seconds faster than without.
Broken/stuck exhaust valve......or injector staying wide open maybe? No flame is supposed to be exiting tail pipe according the shop manual......maybe it's a mis-print.

So far yes Tom they fixed the leaking hub seal.
I supplied the seal, they cleaned everything up, ran a emery cloth over the stub axle and installed the new seal.
$40 cash.
I have replaced it twice already and it always leaked a week or so later, I was tired of screwing with it.
Totally worth $40 to me.

Once I get the new channel I will do a test fit and see how tight it is, I may not use any glue or I might use a different glue.
