FJ80 Coils in Disco
#21
Im getting ready to do this swap this weekend probally. I'll take some pics and make some notes and post up how smooth it goes and if there are any hang-ups. Ive been researching this alot last 2 days and all I read is that its an easy swap for a cheap 2-2.5" of lift. We will see, I only have $50.00 invested in it.

Didnt get a chance to do the swap yet, you know the annoying stuff....wife, kids, work......LOL, kidding!!. I actually scored a bodylift from my buddy with a 97 D1, its a small lift, like 1.5". SO Tommorow were doing the BL and then this week or this weekend I'll do the coil swap. I'll probally have approx 2.5" of coil lift and 1.5" of Bodylift when its all said and done. I'll then run some 255x85x16's or equivelant. I promise to keep you guys posted and take pics.

Ok, well it went HALF Ok..........The front stock FJ80 coils lifted the front nicely about 2.5". The stock rear FJ80 coils gave it no lift!. SOOOOOO I put the stock Disco springs back in with some 2" spacers. So now I have the rear about half and inch lower than the front.. I might either just roll with it and wait untill I get my bumper and Winch on because it might level it out OR get/make some 2.5" spacers for the rear. I'm eventually going to go with a full 3" full suspension lift kit with new coils all the way around but untill money allows I'm going homemade. The front lifted up is perfect, what a difference 2.5" makes!> I also have ZERO vibrations or any problems whatsoever, the truck still cruises at 70 mph smooth as butter. I'll keep you posted. OH yeah, I will need new front shocks as the stock ones are bottoming out on bumps, I can feel and hear them bottom out. I'll either go with new longer shocks or re-mount the shock tabs a little higher. I'm not sure if the guys on Pirate meant to say 4 FRONT FJ80 coils will lift a disco......because the stock rear FJ80 coils actually lowered the disco in the rear.
