While here - anybody know what a suffix C engine has please? Being offered an ex Discovery engine - 38DnnnnnC, 8.13:1 CR, serpentine belt, 14CUX loom, distributor. Looks like 14 bolt heads. Will this have a sideways or front pointed oil filter mount? Does the suffix imply anything else?

You want one off a 94-95 discovery or a 95 range rover. The castings are the same as 96-99 but the distributor hole isn’t machined so they could be used with additional work

Interesting project. Water pump alignment to your existing accessories might be a challenge. Rovers also use a 7 rib belt and I think most domestic stuff is 6 rib. So that might need to be custom

im assuming you are in the US. Serpentine 8.13 engines were never sold here so something is off on that one
