Fuel gauge help!
My fuel gauge doesn't work, shocker. It comes up just above the red and stops.
I've checked the float and it's attached.
its sending a good signal and i get the signal at the gauge cluster, i have 2 clusters and neither gauge will rise. What could the problem be?
At the cluster I was testing light green to green black, is that not right for the fuel gauge? Is there a mechanical replacement for the gauge?

the signal is ok, I'll have to check the grounds. When I test according to the rave manual I only get .5v and not the 5v that it says I should. With that in mind the sending unit on the pump tests poorly so I'll have to replace that before moving ahead.
If bad ground is the problem, the signal voltage can be different (i.e. lower) depending on where the multimeter ground probe is placed. If signal voltage goes to 5v (with full tank) when the meter ground is jumpered to battery negative, that indicates a bad ground path for the fuel gauge circuit. Then the bad ground location can be narrowed down by moving the ground jumper closer to the normal ground path. Hope this makes sense. In addition, if signal voltage stays (0.5 v in this case) low when the ground probe is connected to battery negative, then the signal circuit path is faulty.
