Default Fuel Pressure Regulator - Gasket Combo

Hey guys,

Just wrapped up a headgasket job on my D1 and noticed a slight fuel smell from the truck. Turns out I have a small fuel (mostly vapor) leak from where the fuel pressure regulator meets the fuel rail. When I pulled this apart during the job there was an o-ring gasket and some sort of plastic spacer. During disassembly these two pieces came out separately. When I went to reassemble I attempted to place the o-ring around the spacer but that was too large. Seemed too tight sitting in front of the spacer but fit perfectly without the spacer at all. Long story short I assume it needs this plastic piece as the leak is definitely around the o-ring. SO does anyone have a diagram or can describe what the proper assembly of this looks like?

IDK what year DI you have, but either a non-AEL or an AEL regulator mounts the same with the Oring after the spacer( there is a name for that piece).
Have a look.....

You're a lifesaver! Thanks I really need to update my signature. It's a 96 but pre-Ael (early build date). Dang I'm so disappointed that I missed this. I think I saved that spacer though.. fingers crossed.

I hope you find that spacer (and that is what LR calls it) because you will need it in order for the o ring to seat properly.
I don't think I've seen the spacer sold separately, but you might try searching for the regulator which is ETC8494 to see what turns up.

Found it! Set it aside just in case. I'll swap it on and the truck should be good. Really appreciate you weighing in.

Good on you for finding that bit! Once installed that will sort out the leak.

Just remember BEFORE your next repair to START HERE ( helps too) >

I loose my coffee mug all the time..... So how’s the head gasket experience going for you Expi?

Sorry man I completely missed this comment! Trucks been my daily since doing the head gasket job. Runs pretty good now with a few exceptions. Sadly while I found the plastic spacer the o-ring had deteriorated beyond saving. Had a heck of a time trying to find the proper size to replace it but settled on a generic one from AutoZone. Truly I think it's slightly too small as I still smell a little gas vapor but
no more fluid leaks. If you know of how to find/where to buy the rubber o-ring I'd really owe you one.

Yes!!! Thank you that's a huge help. I'll definitely be ordering a few of those.
