Fuel temperature sensor

Unhappy Fuel temperature sensor

I have a 1996 Land Rover, has anyone had problems with or replaced the fuel temperature sensor? Mine bogs down & looses power & this seems to only happen during the warm/hot months, SO I kinda think maybe the fuel temp sensor might be the problem. Any suggestions?

The sensor is a reverse resistance type, drops ohms as it heats up. So at -40F it is about 23,000 and at 180F it is about 290 ohms.

You would get a check engine light specifically for the fuel temp sensor. The main culprit for hot restarts, warm temperature hesitation and poor fuel mileage is the coolant temp sensor for the ECU. There are two, one for your dash gauge, one for the computer. So my question is is the check engine light on? What's the code(s)?

X2 Get thee a code reader and post your findings, it will help diagnose the problem.

Yes the check engine light comes on & it shows a misfire on 7 & 8 (I think that was it), I'll get the code & post it. Thank you!!! I started on this venture because I'm tired of mechanics PLAYING THE GUESSING GAME AT MY EXPENSE . Wasn't told there would be a check engine light esp for the fuel temp sensor when a mechanic suggested it "was" the problem, after all the other things he has suggested to no avail.

When you get codes read at a parts store, write down the numbers, which mean more than the description their reader thinks is correct.
