I get 14 MPG...
How do I replace the O2 sensors? Are they the things that are sticking out of the exhaust pipes before the cats?

i get 490ks for 75 litres of petrol which i work out to 18.75 mpg, got extractors and HEI, soon to have Megasquirt 2 fuel only, and possibly warmer cam don't tell the wife !!! , as the motor has more oil leaks than the exxon valdez i intend to pull motor out and and replace every gasket, valley, heads, sump, front cover , rockers rear main, etc etc, and while it is on the bench i will "discover" the cam needs replacement

I tend to adv 18mpg. I have hit 21mpg on long trips though. I'm rockin a stock height truck with 18s and semi-street tires though. Always keep the air pressure right, that helps a lot. The wifes focus just hit 31mpg on its first highway trip and its a 5spd. I'll take the 10mpg difference to ride in a roomy much nicer vehicle. ;-)

Just put the scanner on. Yup P0157 Bank 2 sensor 2 problem and P1037 Bank 1 sensor 2 problem. Also showing Cylinder misfire which I expect is caused by the O2 sensors. No wonder why she is only getting 7mpg. Wonder what caused this, she was running good until this summer. What side is bank 1 and Bank 2? I expect sensor two to be after the cats. Is this correct. Good thing I have four spare O2's, Expensive.

Repair complete. Found bank 2 sensor 2 wires cut through. Looks like it was cought on by something. Must have been some poor creature on one of my 4am morning comutes. Bank 1 sensor 2 did not show any cut wires, but replaced it anyways. Runs smoother now, wonder what the gas mileage will be this time. I have a full tank so I'm hopeing this fixs the problem.

They don't. They only monitor catalyst efficiency. You could leave them unplugged, and your gas mileage wouldn't change. The front, or pre-cat sensors are the ones that control fuel input.
