You're telling me! I don't know yet but I think i'm going to do some sort of conversion. Either a rebuilt 4.6 or try a 4L80E/5.3 GM conversion because I'm just tired of messing with this 4.0.

Best way I found to increase my gas usage was to get this.. I save the Disco for bad weather or of road fun!

When I first got my Disco, it was getting terrible gas milage...partly to bad plugs and wires. after my tune up and running a couple tanks through, i checked it and was still only getting 9-10mpg in the city. Recently, i have added Lucas Fuel Treatment to the last couple of fill-ups. I have noticed a difference and the mpg shows. Last tank, I was getting just over 14mpg with a little more highway driving and 11-12 city. I am not completely convinced that the fuel treatment made all of the difference. I think mostly its because I have been able to run faster now making the truck get into overdrive and stay there.
The more i drive it, the better it gets. I am going to continue the fuel treatment to see if I can clean up the injectors some more to improve the mpg. Time will tell.

I just did a 190 mile round trip. From 5600' 95 miles to about 3200' and then back 95 miles gradually increasing back to 5600'

Ran 70 to 75 on the way out. Cruise set about about 68 on the way back up.

Filled her up when I left and got back with just shy of 1/4 tank.

255-85-R16s, big front bumper, roof rack, winch, rear spare, dog.

I blew a couple cans of SeaFoam in the tank recently but haven't done the suck it through a hose into the motor thing yet.

All in all reading this thread it doesn't seem I'm doing too bad at around 11 -13 mpg considering my elevation and terrain.

I have put about 2,500 miles on the truck since I got it. Last three tanks I have gotten 16 mpg. It is all stock. My '05 Ranger, 4x4 ext. cab, get 1-2 mpg better.

Thats pretty "smart".....but unfortunately I don't have the capacity to own two vehicles, I really do need my Disco to be my daily driver, no matter how ridiculous that may be.

Has anyone ever heard (or think its possible) to have bad O2s with no codes? Currently have nothing on the Ultragauge, except the intermittent P1448 and P0442 but the check engine light has never come on.
