Hello everyone, I've been the proud owner of a 97 disco for about months now. Unfortunately about two weeks ago an homeless person broke in an kick the gear shift over(they entered through the passenger side an kicked it over towards the driver side) I was able to bend it back enough that I can shift gear, but know I cant get the key out, thank goodness for the spare. So, I have removed my console an everything in the way but I cant seem to get the gear shift off. I've taken the nut bolt an the push button acces. Anyone have any ideas? I can post pics tomorrow when I get at work (better computer) Any help is greatly appreciated.

Once you get the nut and button stuff out, all that holds the handle on is friction. Just pull hard.

Pics would help, but your stuck key could be related to the bent shifter. I just went through that.
