Not to sound stupid, Sam, but is GVWR (6019 lbs) the most that the vehicle can weigh loaded?

Do you know the GVWR and curb weight of a 1997 off-hand? Is it also abt the same as the 95 and 96? Just wondering...

When I worked for Buick we had to set tires at specs on the door for "ride " but in reality I always find it better to go wit what the tire says so you are not over or under on PSI which causes handling problems and pre mature tire wear, I am not factoring in air down for off roading just handling for onroad, ymmv.

Yeah, when I went to a local tire chain (OK Tires) they mentioned that the tires I have are a heavy duty tire, and because the door says 26 psi fronts and 36 psi rears for the original 235/70R16 size tires which were a four ply, that I would need better pressure for the larger and tougher tires to get a good ride on the highways, as well as for even wear.

Definitely feels more responsive and smooth at the 40 psi all around for the 245/75R16 BFG T/A KO's

I'm sure it is the same.

I have no clue what the 6k lbs is.

I just posted the specs on weight.

GVWR is 6019 and curb is around 5100 I believe on my 98

IIRC gvwr is the Max it would weigh loaded to be "safe " gross vehicle weight rating
This is the thing that makes the registration on a 1 ton truck alot more then a half ton truck in some states

Thanks, Tom, for the GVWR info. I'm not great with acronyms. I actually had to check what you meant by IIRC. Thought it might be a technical term that I should learn. LOL

The acronym that I always remember from my father is "SNAFU", very important to understand!

I'll check my manuals and see if the curb weight or GVWR is listed for my 1997 SE7. I always estimated curb weight to be about 4500 lbs, but it's probably good to know for sure.

It's kind of like I've always appreciated the height measurements listed on the sun visor. There have been many times that I've pulled that visor down quickly and needed to do a fast mathematical conversion before pulling into a very low clearance underground parking garage. It just adds some extra fun parking in the big cities...

The only pressure indicated on a tire is the maximum pressure at maximum load. Very few people run maximum load all the time.
If you run that in an empty vehicle you'll definitely have premature tire wear (bald strip down the center and good tread on the shoulders) not to mention being very unsafe.

Of course, if someone is running the wrong tires, like P rated rather than LT, then yeah, an empty Rover might max out the tires so they need to be inflated to the max.

Both the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Ratings are on the door sticker.

Kerb weight is going to be within a few kg between all stock NAS spec Disco years.
