Heavier Truck needs more power....?

Okay...I finally found a shop that can rebuild and install the gears for $225 each. Some other shops wanted as much as $350 each!!! The service price is only if I bring in the 3rd member(s)...
I am reviewing the manual on how to rebuild one myself. At first review, it looks like I will need additional tools...which is way less cost than servicing one of them. But, it is straight forward. The measurement tools are the biggest items.....to make sure it is all done to spec...
My wallet needs to recoup from the service cost of my commuter. I had both CV's and an engine mount go out at the same time?!?!?!?!.... Looks like this task will get pushed off until the end of summer....oh well...back the affordable projects for now.

I only asked Justin about the install kit....
Seriously thou, I know I can build it myself. I just need to buy the extra tools....which I need anyway.

Feeler gauges for what? I used a mic to measure and record shim sizes. You could use one of those pinion depth tools but generally speaking if you use the same shims that came out of the diff it will get you pretty close and then you can just adjust the depth based on the pattern

What....are you sure, bearing and races included in the $225! Shipping would probably cost $100 back and forth for two plastic containers.

Sorry the site says $298 Lucky8 Llc. - Take the road less traveled... but I swear he quoted me $225 when I asked him about it. You should have told me you wanted to do this I could have sold you two diffs for cheap and then just gave them to Justin to have his guy build them and ship them out to you.

I'm going to just buy the Ashcroft gears and rebuild kit next week then....can't wait till the end of summer. I get the lockers done next year. Don't need them for the trips this year anyway.
Just can't tell my wife I spending money on the cars again, and just after my commuter car expense...hehe...I truly believe auto parts are more important than purses...
