hey might be stupid thing and easy to fix i just dont know
when i start my rover first thing in the morning it revs up to 2k rpm and i have to give it gas and turn it off to make it go down. after that its good for the rest of the day. any ideas what this might be?

 

How long does it stay at 2k rpms? Forever, or for a few seconds? A few seconds is normal. Forever is not.

have you cleaned the throttlebody & iac passageways, there's a writeup in the tech section if you need it...........

 

Mine did that and a little more - was idle air control valve, and could not get ECM to memorize new one, ended up replacing ECM as well (got ECM and a used IACV as a set from same donor truck, and it worked). Hope you just have cleaning and maybe a new IACV.
