hello people i have just got a 1990 3.9 vogue and the rev counter dont work it had a new alternator and we put the wires back in the same places but still wont work for some reason can anyone help me please its doing my head in!!!

yes the classic range rover gets its tachometer reading from
the alternator, so recheck, opencircuit in wires? or bad alt?
did the tach work before you replaced the alt?

 

hello there it did work ok before we changed it but it the alt works fine as you would know being new,, i just dont know were to look really

i think there is somthing wrong internaly with that alt
or its not the right one for your rover.
three wires on the back right?
thick cable, small 8mm and one spaid connector?
is this a after market alt?
