Default high beams?

Sorry this probably sounds stupid, but how do you turn the high beams on/off? Is it like every other car where you pull the stalk towards you? Nothing changes when i do this and my lights are very bright, but nobodies flashed me the few days I've had it so far. How do i go about fixing this? new stalk?

oh and i got my first disco! coming from an 89 beat to hell jeep cherokee i am super happy with it

Pulling the left hand stalk should dip your lights, posibly the stalk is faulty or the high beam relay might be at fault.

so i took apart the stalk and nothing seemed wrong about it. cleaned it up and put it back together. checked all the fused under the dash and hood and they all were fine. is there any other fuses or relays i can check? or possibly the stalk is still bad somehow?

No relays, stalk switch does it all. You can unplug fuses F4 and F5 under dash and it should kill the brights.

before you pulled the fuses, was the blue "hi beams" light on the dash lit? Are you sure it was the high beams?

yeah the blue light was on. i also tested it by pulling the fuse while they were on and they turned off one headlight at a time.
