Just to finish this thread off, the bearings in the U-joints were toast. I have replaced them, and now the Disco runs smooth like butter.
Hmm, I must be hungry.

Glad to hear it was relatively simple.

I would like to have an 82 928. Is yours black?

Mine is Weinrot Metallic (Burgundy with flakes).
