Got the RAVE download? Jsut to supplement any responses you get here. There is a write up in the tech section on the tranny pan, which involves taking out the cross member, has some photos.

Too easy bud. First get that transmission ready to go in. Clean it up real good. Do you have a new torque converter? Probably a good time to get one if you do not. Have you removed the old trans yet? PM me I can talk you throught he process the easy way.

So, what is wrong with the old one, be specific? How mechanical are you?

Replacing a transmission isn't a huge job.
Follow the steps in the manual, make sure you don't pinch the O2 sensor wires between the bell housing and flywheel housing.
Make the transmission support adapter shown in the manual. It makes removal installation easier.
Saw the heads off some long 3/8 NC bolts, taper them a bit then use them for locating pins in the fly wheel housing when you replace the transmission.

Be careful not to let the torque converter slip out, I guess it can be a problem for some to get them back in:

In the RAVE download of the workshop manual, go to section 44, Automatic Gearbox; Repair,
LT230T TRANSFER GEARBOX WITH AUTOMATIC
GEARBOX ASSEMBLY - V8i

This is the write up, with detailed very clear drawings, of what to do. Transfer case and tranny come out together, need to fabricate a bracket to balance them on your tranny jack. Details of bracket are in there.

If you do not have this manual, you can down load it for free. IF you decide to go ahead with this, without reading the manual, this is one of those jobs that will go badly, unless you have many of them in the past.

You may read the write up, with check list of all the things to be taken loose and put back, and decide to invest in some shop time with a mechanic. Or call in a favor and get a couple of friends over.
