This is my second '96 D1 Se7; same year and color combination, except the first was an automatic. We also had a '94 D90 and a '98 Disco, in the family.

From many discussions with two of the oldest guys in the British car business, they would only recommend US versions up to 98 production. Post 98 vehicles have brought more electrical and mechanical issues. They both admit that British vehicles are not the best engineered, but unique in their own right.

My wife and I (and kids) love the old Disco's, just due to the comfort on very long drives and adventures. The D90, well, that was more utilitarian....and no A/C. I would have loved to kept it, but someone offered me some serious green backs for it. Ahhh, I hardly used it anyway.

We are currently saving up for a 110, 2.5 turbo diesel. I have found only a few around the country, but they go quickly. I do hope by the end of next year, that dream comes true.

Get yourself one of thos V12 two seaters for some real punishment the XJS or XJSC.

A DII for a street car, why buy 12 MPG vehicle for that?

Get a 370ZX or a classic 450SL .

My father's doctor had an Austin Healey 3000 in the 60's. He would trade it to dad for the weekends when he wanted to use dad's Country Squire. We enjoyed cruising around in that Healey. A friend of mine bought a Jensen Healey and another had a GTV. But the one that had the XKE was my favorite ride. A nice yellow convertible E type.

If you are going to own a Discovery, I would want three of them. All the same year model and identical systems to reduce variation between them. Two to keep in running condition and a third one for parts.

i can understand that. I actually shifted my search to a DI and only a DII in low mileage with service receipts
