ideas on an age old problem - Hood liner issues

No need to cut the mbz hood pad - its a very close fit - if you go this route make sure to lay it flat and place some weight on the edges to get it fully stretched before installing - get extra hood clips as there are more holes available to use on the under side of the hood than the original hood pad used - this makes for a better fit - think I used about 12 - I marked my pad up to align the holes and then using a punch put a hole in the foam - the material is stretchy so the clips can fit thru easily - put one clip on each side to get it centered and work toward the center

My 99 D1 is missing the under hood insulation and I see the hood flexing when I am at speeds and heavy winds.Could this be a contributing factor to my truck running hot when the temps are hotter out? My 97 had the insulation and I did not have the same problems
it performs one critical function and a secondary benefit.

in the advent of an engine bay fire, the under hood insulation is designed to fall on the engine with the idea to smother or at least slow down the fire.

secondary benefit is reducing some of the engine acoustics
