Ignition switch
Well the ignition switch locked up today, at least it worked one last time to get me home. Any other options besides paying $700 for a new one or the fix posted on the sticky???
checked under vendor tab and didn't see lucky 8 info, do they have a web site? Thanks...
Good Evening,
So I was driving home today and it couldn't have got any worse than the 101 degree weather out here my stupid ignition switch gave out. So I need help before I go down the wrong road.
A few months ago the key broke in the door lock and it wouldn’t allow me to start the truck. So I took apart the entire ignition switch to get it working, I put everything back together and the only little issue was that I was afraid I did not tighten the small little screw that holds it together. Today as I am leaving the store I saw that the dash lights are on as if the truck was running, which it was not. Then I try to start it and it sounds like it is engaging and then there is no sound at all when I turn to actually start the truck. I tried to wiggle it to see if it would help but nothing. The key does not get stuck at all so I take it out and put it back in and I am still having problems. Finally I gave up since I have to be at work way to early I had my brother help me pull the truck all the way home. Please help.
Could I of done something wrong when I put it back together? Or is it just time to give up and buy a new ignition switch?
Thank you.

Take off the steering column shroud. It may be as simple as reattaching the electrical end of the ignition switch to the mechanical. Hopefully, the screws will still be in the body of the mechanical portion of the assembly.
Paul,
Yes I was speaking of the ignition switch to the assembly. I fixed that part as they were loose but found out that was not the issue. I put the key in yesterday and turned it as if I were going to start it since I thought I had fixed the issue.
As I put the key in and turn it got stuck and now I cannot take it out. I don't know what the problem is now. I tried all things possible to wiggle it as I slightly move the steering wheel and little things here and there but nothing.
I was really frustrated that I just left it alone and went to my parts truck and took the entire assembly that has the ignition switch.
I am going to read on here how to take apart the ignition switch as that is what I believe is my problem now. If not what else can it be?
Thank you for your help. I am very frustrated.

My Friend had a similar problem with his D2.
The end fix was to remove the 2 rounded of bolts on top of the ignition and remove the whole ignition switch. The pin that actuates on the steering column/steering wheel lock got stuck and would no allow the key to be removed.
Take of the steering column cover and use a flat sharp chisel to get a bite on those rounded head screws and start hitting them counter clockwise to loosen. Once loose you can finish the job by hand.
Once you remove from the steering column you should be able to remove the key.
He just re-installed and the issue fixed itself. It sounds like you may have to fix your tumbler though. There is a fix in the sticky section.

So I got into the truck and connected the black end cap part and secured the two screws. I proceeded to insert the key, once key was inserted I tried to start the truck by turning passed the accessory/on positions into the start position. The power was turned on but the starter was unresponsive and the key cylinder seemed to of lost spring pressure between the start and on position (I had to manually turn the key back from the start to the on position). I tried to start the truck multiple times with the same results as listed above.
After my last attempt I tried to remove the key at which point I realized I was unable to turn the key passed the accessory position toward the off position. The end result the key is still in the cylinder and I had to disconnect the power of the truck to save my battery.
I guess before I start doing other things make sure that there is not any other information I should be aware of. Thank you guys for the advice.
