instrument lights off
When I turn on the headlights, normally the instrument lights turn on to whatever level is set my the dimming dial on the left of the steering wheel at the base of the binnacle. The other day I noticed they were off. Both the guage pack light was off and the light in the dash for the heat controls and clock and so on. So I tried adjusting the dimming dial even though I'm aware it doesn't have an off position. When I fiddled with it, the lights flickered and came on. All good. Just a little of that Land Rover charm, right? Well, the next day they're off again and now they won't turn on or even flicker. I checked for a fuse problem and found they're all good. I doubt more than one bulb failed at the same time. Think it's the dimmer dial? Should I just leave 'em off? I'm not sure what good they are. Maybe I can just use a little hand torch if I need to see the fuel gauge.
I had this problem. The wife reported it to me, but then I also noticed the running lights weren't working either. Brake lights okay, headlights okay. So I thought it was the light switch stalk. Anyway, it wound up being the connector to the light switch stalk. A tip off was a brown slightly burned looking pin socket. I cleaned and lubed the sockets and pins and tightened up the one that was brownish and all is well. Just a suggestion, turn the lights on and look at the taillights.
