LED Interior Light conversion
LEDs draw about 10% of a regular bulb, a lot easier on that wimpy Multi Function Unit module. Photos of my D1, front light LED, rear seat still factory. I soldered mine in, but they make ones that snap in like a regular bulb.
I think I was in Auto Zone, one of the national chains; it was about $16; it took under 30 minutes to install. www.superbrightleds.com is one on-line vendor that makes the snap in modules.
Where does the wire to this light come from? Because I have the light but there's no wire. The garage door opener has a little tab on it with live contacts. Is there supposed to be a jumper cable from the opener to the dome light or is there another pigtail off the harness? Mine's a '98 D1, missing something obviously, probably from the headliner job.
It does dim in steps just like the regular bulb. I soldered mine to the two tabs that support the bulb, I think negative was on the right. You can buy ones from superbrightleds.com that just pop in like a regualr "festoon" bulb.
