I'm injured, off work, and bored.
It didn't take much to make the Jeep bumper work. The Discovery front bumper mount is so simple you could probably make any bumper work by just welding on a few mounting plates. After you do that its just 6 bolts.

My biggest concern with using only the three bolts on each side and using that to support winching another heavy vehicle out of someplace where they are badly stuck is the stresses that you are exposing those six bolts to, are they going to adequately hold at MAX Q?

You could end up with a significant problem if they should fail.

I like the way it looks and that's the end of it. I'm not putting a 200lb piece of metal on MY truck to satisfy YOUR paranoia that someday, maybe I'll hit something. Sure as hell not doing it just because thats your taste. Just saying.

Actually it's been true for over fifty years now and not in my head but in the eyes and memories of hundreds of women world wide.

Paranoia is never associated with me at all.

Seeing you are from Texas, you need all the help you can get.

So enjoy yourself Tex.

How else are you supposed to attach a dumper to the front of a D1? Every aftermarket bumper I've owned or seen has used the stock mounting holes, 3 on each side. Heck, most D2 aftermarket bumpers only have two bolts on each side.

I had seen something about some additional/more substantial mounting.

I am sure that there are some members out there that can provide more information, I am just expressing concern regarding those rare times when you are counting on it to get unstuck, you do not want to learn then that it was inadequate.

Food for thought is all.

Yeah I know what you're saying. I think its a pretty stout mount though. I had to winch myself out of a ditch in Harlan, KY. I was WAAAAAAY in the ditch and close to rolling. The inclometer was pegged at 45* and that was because that's as far as the gauge went. Anyways, I had to run my winchline to a tree, through a ****** block, and back to my bumper. Those six bolts held great.
Here's a vid from a dash mounted cam. It looks like I was heading straight for the trees. I wasn't but my back end hopped up a rock and shifted left. The pucker factor was extreme. It doesn't look too badbut keep in mind the small tree in front of me at the end is supposed to be vertical. Caution: I drop an S bomb.
