I think you seem a little uptight, Chap. You can't honestly be serious to get in a pissing match with Danny Lee, can you? Danny Lee will antagonize if he wants to but he's a valuable contributor on the forum. I'm pretty sure he means most of it in jest, at least he did until you took his comments personally. We all want to help you, even Danny Lee. Poking fun is part of the culture here, there's no need to be upset.

He says you came with an attitude, maybe he's wrong. I will say this, it has been a long time since I've seen this kind of fighting and name-calling on the forum, and you are the new one, not Danny Lee. Draw your own conclusions. In my experience, I get a lot more helpful responses if I self-sensor my ego a bit.

You've been duly warned on the brush guard, we can't and won't stop you from installing it. Just don't whine if you do hit something and total the rig. I think I speak for the group when I say we want you here as a learner and contributor. Please try to have a thick skin since some of us are a bit rough around the edges.

Make love not war, or however that goes...

As you guys know this is a "family friendly" forum, if you want to be rude please go somewhere else, if you need help with that I am more than willing to do so.

I have a ARB winch bumper, minus the winch it is HEAVY, close to 300lbs, 2 guys can lift it but not hold it in front of the truck to align and mount, I had to use my floor jack.
The back of my truck is def lighter when the gas tank is below 1/2.
The DI winch bumper is held on by 6 grade 10 bolts, no crush cans.
The DII came with crush cans and they need to be removed before mounting a winch bumper or they at the very least need to be made stronger.
I do not know how many bolts hold on the DII bumper.

Personally I like the brush guard look and function, but each to their own.

I'm not uptight, and I really am not upset. The guy randomly tried to insult me just because he doesn't agree with my choice in brush guard. I'm just not one to stay quiet when someone tries to put me down for no good reason. I know I'm new here, and as childish as it sounds, I did not start this petty back and forth. I don't care if antagonizing is his thing.

What I'm really sorry about is helping to hijack this thread. Geez, the poor guy just wanted advise in finding a brush guard.

Wow, I had no idea the Disco ARB bumper was so stout. The ARB on my friend's FJ80 was made of roughly 10-gauge steel and certainly lighter than the one I built. Installing mine took just one person to hold it up and one person to thread the 6 bolts.

I think he's suggesting to tap it in several places with a ball peen hammer. If it's rusting, it will give way or dent easily, perhaps even crumble. Before undertaking this you've got to convince yourself that the brush guard is worthless if it is in fact rusted. Otherwise you're just putting dents in it when you were previously contented to ignore the problem.

Here's your sign!

I cannot believe anyone could get so hung up over what he interpreted was said.

At first glance, the brushguard looks good from a distance. Upon closer inspection, one sees that they leave a lot to be desired since they actually do rot from inside out since the inside is not even treated for corrosion protection. The plastic coating on them will conceal a lot of rust until the holes under the coating get bigger.

And they do contribute to costly damage in otherwise minor bumps. If you like it that much, fine.

And just to set the record straight, I am not fifty, I am sixty. My comments regarding the bumper were not intended to be attacks or insults to you.

Now what about your comments regarding lip stick and high heels? What made you think that was anything but crude. You merely showed a truly low level of yourself.

I apologize to Spike and the other gentlemen who are subjected to this senselessness and I shall refrain from any further Battle of Wits with Obviously Unarmed Individuals.
