Looking to buy a D1 and have some questions.
Im going to go look a this Discovery this weekend if all goes as planned. It has a few issues that Im not quite sure about.
This is the ad that is up:
"Selling initially due to being told it couldn't pass inspection due to loudness (RPM). I was told it needed to be at a 1 and this one runs idle at a 1-2.
4×4 was disconnected by guy I bought from was told he was doing some kind of work to make it into some kind of 4*4 beast. 🤦🏻*♀️ Also has a driving quirk (was made to drive like a stick without clutch) related to 4*4 work previous owner was doing. 4*4 is in the middle seat section.
Heat and AC both work unsure if heated seats work due to seats are worn as pictured. Window is half stuck bought that way unsure if its window motor or glass unaligned."
I know the window should be a relative easy fix and from what I've read is the ECM will need to be reset or flashed to more than likely fix the idle issues. My biggest concern is how or why would someone make the transmission only shift manually?
I'm also not sure why the from drive shaft is removed. Is there something that would make its removal necessary and/or anything I should specifically look for because it has been removed?
I don't mind working on a vehicle and feel that most things I can fix with a little research and guidance but don't want to get in over my head right off the bat.
Thanks
Jay

Somebody already had the same idea. Rinse repeat..... https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...eedback-92617/ We think anybody would do well to keep looking. The seller doesn't know enough about Rovers to either be honest or dishonest. Personally it's a money pit waiting on a sucker.

When I got my D1, it had 37 error codes and the only way it would run was to pour gas in the throttle valve. Which the previous owner's son did to show it runs. I was told it needed a fuel pump and the son had sold his house and needed to get rid of it fast. After buying a $600 fuel pump (that didn't fix the problem) I downloaded the RAVE and started working on it. 2 months later lots of towing it back home when it quit or wouldn't start, I found the burnt wire connectors and it has run good ever since.
If you are looking for a project truck, go for it! sounds like someone bought it and quickly got in over their head. Sadly a truck that sounds like this has probably been either neglected, or messed with by someone who thinks they either knows what they are doing or just doesn't care and is trying to make it run a little while longer. Sounds like it will be a project truck and need a bunch of work. If you get it cheap, and have the room and time to work on it, have fun!
