Loss of power
Hi All,
I have just recently purchased a 96 disco with a v8 petrol engine. When I take off in drive it is really sluggish and feels like it has no power until it gets up to around 60 kph then it drives fine and sits on a 100 kph nicely! Just wondering if anyone else has witnessed this before. I don't know a lot about cars and any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

How many miles? It could be the MAF(Mass air flow sensor). It is the black tube that has an electrical connection to it, in between the air filter and the intake on top of the engine.
Im just guessing though. They sell MAF cleaner that has instructions on how to clean it, if that doesn't work you can:
A) Buy a new MAF(not guaranteed to fix the problem)
B) Get advice from another member that might know what the problem is.
As you are recent owner and don't know a lot about cars, go to the tech section and download the RAVE workshop manual. I would spend all of my nights looking to over if I were you.
I own a 96' that has been my daily driver for 9 years. Up until a year ago I have been paying to have it serviced. I have probably put over 15K into it with outside mechanics in the last 8 years. I have finally decided to start doing the work myself and am saving lots of money.
Good luck
