Default Misc Questions

Ok, someone told me I couldnt put a new CD head unit in my 98 D1 because the entire factory security system is built into the factory radio. True or False?

What do you guys do with your Airbag system when you go off-road? What if you bump a tree or somethiing? I've been in some slick as* mud and slid into a tree or rock many times in trucks without Airbags.

I'm gathering that my 98 D1 does NOT have Roto flex drivelines so will lifting 3" be easier on my D1 as far as driveline vibes goes? I would think that the standard U-joint set up will not be as picky about 3" of lift. I know caster issues might arise but 1 less problem to correct is good news. I want 3" of lift in the end ultimately.

Thats it for now.

I have an Alpine stereo in mine, and still have factory alarm. The factory stereo has an anti-theft in it, so when someone trys to steal it, they need a code to activate it.

As far as the airbags, you would have to smack a tree pretty hard to set off the airbags. But, if it put's you at ease, pull the fuse when you go off road.

As far as the lift, I think 3" is the magical number. Some have gotten away at 3" with no other mod's. Much more than that and you'd probably be looking at a new front driveshaft, castor correction, cranked rear trailing arms, etc.

Even at 3", extended brake lines would probably be a very good idea.

Yeah whoever told you the OEM stereo is tied to the truck alarm system is on dope.
The stereo has its own security system, it will only work in a Rover and only with the security code that came with and is assigned to that stereo.
The OEM stereo on a DI is a Pioneer.
I had a Kennwood stereo put in mine, the only problem is you need to by-pass the factory amp.

If you smack something hard enough to set off the airbag's you have bigger problems, it takes a ~30mph hit to set them off.

It varies from car to car, but it usually takes over 25mph to set off the air bags because if they went off everytime you bumped a parked car or a light pole that would get very expensive and very annoying real quick.
Not to mention the lawsuites from people getting hurt from the air bags going off.
