the alarm ECU changed in 1996. There is a definitive thread somewhere (either on this forum or at Discoweb) on how to bypass the alarm ECU on a 97 disco. Make sure your ECU is securely mounted. The vibration from the bumps are telling the ECU that you have been in an accident and to unlock the doors and turn on the hazards.

Not hijacking the thread, but you mention a cruise control ECU. Could this ECU be the reason my cruise control works for about 15 minutes and quits?? Once it quits, I need to restart the DI & it works again (well some times it does).

Yeah I'm just saying that's what happens sometimes and it's not a big deal. The only way I know of to actually remove the alarm is with a LR diagnostic system, which I do have but haven't done yet. Another guy here used a HawkEye to disable and remove his. You might be referring to the immobilization removal thread I created a while ago.

Default won't start

carp - today stupid truck won't start even when I make sure #1 wire is grounded to metal bracket. What do I do now?
