Could it be that you have a "high output" line out of your head unit and your amp needs "line level" inputs? In other words, what type of signal is coming out of your heard unit to the sub...a speaker wire type, or a RCA patch cord type. I'm not sure if I explained that very well.

In other words, does the OP have his subwoofer amp connected to a speaker out of the head unit? If so, this will certainly cause distortion and possibly blow something up.

My rear door speakers foam surrounds has rotted out. I ordered some replacements foam surrounds and was going to just replace the foam. I started to clean off the old surrounds and noticed one of the speakers cones does not move at all. I think the speaker is a bad.

Is there a direct speaker replacement? I want to keep the stock set up for now. Also is there a difference between a Discovery I and Discovery II rear speakers.

I have searched, but have not found any current information. I have a '95 Discovery I.

TIA

I bought a Subwoofer assembly from a Disco II off of Ebay for 40 bucks. The speakers were perfect. I just epoxied brackets onto the back of the speakers to mount the amp.

I don't see that it's worth the trouble of changing out the Subwoofers or amps. I might do the other speakers, depending on how it sounds.

I've got a Kenwood double DIN navigation unit going into the dash.
