Default Neutral saftey switch helppppp

Hey I have a 99 disco 1 one day I got into my car to leave crank my car and went to put it in drive and bammmm it wouldn't come out of park so u tinkered with the sensor on the brake pedal and it started working again so about 2 weeks went by and it finally did it again so I pulled the switch back out and I tested the plug it plugs into with a test light with car on and there's no fire to either wire hmmmm should there be fire to one of these wires ? And is there a way to by pass this switch or will it lead to more problems such as tail light issues ? I need help if possable and I greatly appreate it ....... gman 21

The swtich could be out of adjustment or just plain bad. There is a bypass trick.
Read this thread.

See I took that switch and I see that is is basically like a toggle so is the wires going to it a possitive wire or neg ?????? Ib don't think it is the switch cause I got it to shift without the switch pluged in just by messing with the two wires pulling em a lil bit idk its got me furrious lol but I don't really wanna bypass it but I will before I spend 200 300 $

not sure what you are typing. but you need a new brake light switch. of you can jump the rear defroster to it if you get stuck again.

This. To be blunt your lack of punctuation and run on sentences are making it a pain in the *** to figure out what you're saying.

Like Hilltoppersx said and I described in the linked thread, do the rear defroster jumper trick. If you can shift then your brake light switch is bad and the SHIFT LOCK(not neutral safety) solenoid is good. If you still cannot shift using the rear defrost jumper then the solenoid is probably stuck or bad.
The solenoid only moves when you press the brake pedal. You should hear a quick plastic like sliding sound.
You need to download the RAVE manual, get acquainted with the truck and terminology, and use punctuation.

Good luck!!

Spell checking wouldn't hurt either.
