Your kidding right?? whats your mechanic...a fu$cking idiot?? It's a buick engine and about the easiest engine to work on ...I tore mine down to the block in 6 hours and have never done it before..and in my drivway....He must not be too bright...The only reason the dealer cost so much...wel ..one of them as there clients are rich and they dont fix things...they replace things....big difference....Your young...do it yourself...no big deal...it's just a truck...

Have to agree... This is a simple engine to work on, get the RAVE and it's very clear.
Something else to think about in the swap is how your going to mate it to you trans, you have to think about that swaps added weight. (The all aluminum rover 4.0 is a very light engine)... Think about that for a second... rodders spend BIG bigs getting special aluminum blocks etc... you already have one.
When I got my first rover I was the same as you, just wanted something I knew in it, I knew 350's etc... as it turns out I find the 4.0 a much easier engine to work on.
