New Transmission Needed - Or Just a Filter/Fluid Change?
I love a good dust up.
From the RAVE manual, Disco 1, section 44 automatic gearbox ZF , operation:

The problem with the electric/hydraulic question rests in LRD2 mistaking which transmission is in which Land Rover. The Range Rover Classic, Series I Discovery and '97 Defender all had the ZF 4HP22 transmission. It was hydraulic. The 1995 P38A had both the 4HP22 and 4HP24 depending on the engine (4.0or 4.6) but were both computer controlled. The Series II Discovery that came with the 4.0 also had the 4HP22 but it too was electronically controlled. The 4HP24 only came into use on the DII with the '03/'04 4.6 models.
the dealer done me wrong, what kinda oil you use in that rig, it broke down and broke my heart, yo momma won't like that drip on the driveway, it's gonna cost u big time - throw all our rants in the blender and surely there is a hit county song somewhere.....
And while we gather at that bonfire with meat on the fire to please the Rover gods, the purists that prefer no additives will take their meat raw, on burnt toast; no sauce, ketchup, mustard for them, and straight grain alcohol only.

To be enthusiastic and try to contribute is admirable, but to provide erroneous information as if it were gospel truth is a major foopah.
I don't think the saga would be a mainstream country song unless it had the right twang and talked about budonnakah donks and included a line like, " It was raining the Night Momma Got Out of Prison, and on his way to pick her Pappa got run over by a gosh darn Train".
But maybe some Island type reggae might do the trick. Wonder if Jimmy Buffet could help us out with it. Maybe like "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw" or even better the one in my signature link.
