Default Newbie Disco I

Hi Folks,
I am planning on buying a Disco I from a guy who says the vehicle was running great, but he let it sit for about 8 months due to a Audi purchase. He claimed he charged or replaced the battery and now the security system won't allow him to start the vehicle because he does not own the remote to clear it. He clams a remote will do the trick..The price is good $1500. I'm going to offer him $1000 and would like to keep the vehicle long term. Downloaded RAVE, made my eyes go a little blurry...I guess I'm looking for a shorter version...It appears that the immobilization bypass is a possible fix in addition to purchasing the remotes?..Thanks

Hello,
What year is it? Depends on the year if it has that locking feature I think. Also, can he at least open up the truck? Land rovers do have a thing called "super lock" that disables the starter and doors, you just have to have the key fab to unlock it I think. I don't have this feature on my Discovery 1 1995 version. For the future add the truck information to the signature line!
Welcome again

All I have to do on my 1999 D1 is just unlock the truck from driver side....don't know if thats stock or not.......Unlock and enter from any door other than driver side hell even unlock the car from the inside and it wont start...

Since it sat, your first priority should be changing all the fluids, greasing U-joints, and checking/changing filters.

Default 97 Disco Lockout?

Thanks for the responses. Will perform the service items recommended. The owner claims its a lock out from sitting too long, not having the remote to reset, but also threw fuel inertia switch. Can an OBDII (Sears Craftsman) read some of this stuff?. I downloaded RAVE. I was also planning on purchasing a service manual from Bentley. Is the RAVE comprehensive enough or should it be both or...? Thanks everyone
