Hey all,

Attempting to replace the front seat cushions and replace with new leather seat covers and backrest covers. I purchased seat covers from Lseat and seat foam replacements from exmoor. My big problem is that the discovery 1 and discovery 2 were both produced in 1999 and while the discovery 1 and 2’s parts are very separate and different, apparently the seats are the same.

I made the mistake of purchasing Discovery 1 seat foams which where too big for the seat frame so I purchased seat foam for a discovery 2. My question is that the discovery 2 seat foam fits much better, but still seems to require too much force and is not as much of a nice fit as I was expecting.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

DI and D2 seats are not the same. Since you own a DI, why did you order seat foams for a D2?

The Series I Discovery was sold through mid-1999, and the Series II Discovery was produced and sold the last half of 1999.

 

Yeah, so not so much of a question of do I have a D1 or a D2, I for sure have a D1 (rear tail lights, other cosmetics and mechanical parts replaced). I guess I’m asking if anyone knows or has had personal experience replacing the seat foams? I’m assuming there was only one type of seat for the discovery 1 up to 1998 and for the discovery 2’s 1999 and on?

I replaced my seat foam for my D1 and had no problem with it - now where did I buy it ? I can't recall off hand but will check my receipts and post back

 

The DI 94-95 seats are different from the 96-99. I have seen other Disco's with leather replacement but not with the actual seat foam. I'm sure it has been done but I don't have any first hand knowledge. How are you getting the new foam into the old seat?

exmoor advertises seat foam until 98’ and then in 99’ they only offer a D2 seat foam...

 

basically just sliding the seat foam in. Have trouble getting it to sit far enough back without being scrunched. I can send pictures in a bit.

 

Anyway to trim the excess so it will fit?
