Default No Brakes!

Hey Guys, Long time no post! Last night my brakes stopped working. To be specific, they started to get mushy, then they are touching the floor. If I mash as hard as I can the rear brakes will slow the vehicle but not the front. On ice the rear will lock up and the front rolls. The stopping power is not strong. The brakes seem to pump up with the vehicle off, but not strong, and when you start the vehicle they go to the floor. I can not find any leaks. It sounds like squirting sounds inside the ABS box when you pump it with the vehicle off. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Brakes are not my forte for sure. Thanks!

if the resivoir is empty you probably got air in the lines now and will have to bleed the brakes

Thanks guys, I had no idea the reservoir was divided inside in two sections, the front section was empty. I bled the brakes and added new fluid and it seems good. I don't know how ling its been like that since I thought the reservoir was full. Anyway, now let's see if there is a leak.

Might not be a leak, might just be pads worn to nothing. Disc brakes use alot more fluid to adjust the piston compared to drum brakes. Maybe last time the brakes were done, noone topped off the fluid.

I would definately be looking to where the fluid leaked or went to because that stuff just doesnt evaperate. Make sure you check all the rubber hoses and steel lines for leaks and cracks and also the base of the master cylendar at the grommets they tend to leak with age also.

You definitely got a leak. Those steel lines were get really bad with corrosion. Look at the pics of my fuel lines by clicking on the link in my signature. The brake lines are the same material just a slightly smaller diameter.
