Default No Start 1996 Discovery I

I have a 96 Disco I. New battery, truck wont' start. I turn te key and all the electrical comes on, but won't crank. I thought it was the starter. Had that checked out and when they put power to it it worked. Not sure if it's related, but when i turned the key all the way i could not get it out of park, tried a few times then it worked. Any ideas would help.

He sent me a PM, I replied with this, shift cable is out of adjustment and needs to be adjusted.
He also said that he has a hard time removing the key from the ignition, these two symptoms point to a out of adjustment shift cable, the trans it not all the way in park so it wont start or release the key.

Spike helped me out with this. I took the plastic around the shifter off and there are two cables on each side, they were loose. When I pressed them in it fired right up. Thanks for the help.
