Default Odd Intermittent Problem

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the land rover scene but I've been enjoying my 97 Disco for over a year now with no trouble. Over the last few months I've seen an odd problem crop up a handful of times and I have no idea what it could be. Sometimes when I start it up (hot or cold doesn't seem to matter) there is no power to the radio, hvac fans, heated seats, windows etc. If I then drive the truck it is fine until I put it in park at which point it makes a terrible metal on metal squeal screech until I turn it off. If I restart it right afterward all is well, the electronics work and no screeching is present. Anyone had this trouble before?

Thanks in advance.

Your ignition lock is sticking halfway between the "run" and "start" position, when you put it back in park it is clicking to the "start" position and grinding the starter.
Buy some graphite to lube the key cylinder.

Awesome,

That makes perfect sense, I'll give it a try! Thanks so much.

Please report back if that does or does not fix it.
