Occasional no spark
Hello! Here is what I got and after lots of searching the posts I am at a loss and hope someone has solved a similar issue.
1998 Disco
139K miles
Starts and runs fine 90% of the time
When it doesn't start I have the following:
No spark, happens hot or cold, can come back 5min later and it will fire right up.
I have a new battery, wires/plugs are fine.
Only code I had was P1316 if I remember correctly but when researched it was associated with my ABS light being on.
When it doesn't start it does turn over and the check engine light does not stay on while cranking so I don't think its the crankshaft sensor.
It has never died on me when it does start and run.
Does my year have the spider? I have read it does and that it doesn't.
Does anyone have any ideas before I start throwing parts at it? Thank you!

P1316 is; misfire excessive emissions fault, you cannot feel misfire in most cases. P1317/18 is ABS rough road low/high fault. Don't know about the spider, doesn't matter to me anyways. The spider is the catch all diag when folks don't know what they're doing. Maybe a handful of vehicles are effected by it directly and if your absolutely concerned then bypass it, the how to is posted someplace. No spark is directly involving the CkPS, CkPS = spark. I would suggest taking a good look at it and it's wires. Never hurts to put eyes on. Remove it, look for any sign of physical deformity. 10% is too much for me to not be deeply involved into "WHY". 10% is either weak or high resistance.
You should have a copy of the Rave. Links are posted everywhere in these forums for it.
Best of luck.
