Default Odd CLD shifter issue

I purchased a '98 Disco just a couple of weeks ago with high miles but the PO said that the engine and tranny was rebuilt and has about 90k on them. I drove the truck 2.5 hours home to discover a weak alternator and leaking water pump. I replaced the alternator, water pump, t-stat, and all of the hoses. Today I tightened up the gearbox, changed the oil, and drained and refilled the transmission fluid. After refilling the transmission, the truck would not shift into gear. So I added fluid until the truck would shift, now appears overfilled. I then began moving the cld shifter and noticed that the truck was in low when the shifter was in high and in high when the shifter was in low. Is this a linkage issue that someone else has experienced? I wish to drive the truck but would like to make sure I do not damage the transmission. Thanks in advance...

Sounds like a linkage issue, like it was hooked up wrong.
As long as the CDL is not locked you can drive it, if it is locked you cannot drive it on dry roads.
The transmission and transfer case are two different units, the t-case takes gear oil and the trans takes Dexron III.

I adjusted the kickdown cable today (too much slack) and drove the Disco about 20 miles in Low (per the CLD **** position) and the truck drove/shifted great. I moved the **** into the High position and the transfer case is defiantly in Low, in CLD locked and unlocked positions. I will take a look at the linkage this week, raining here in NC at the moment. Ordering a new Brake master cylinder for this weeks Disco project as well Thanks for your help...

Make sure you buy a OEM master cylinder and NOT a aftermarket brand.
