Default Check engine light

Just found out on my 94 disco that the check engine light is non existent! I realized it while I was diagnosing a high idle problem while come back to a stop. I unplugged the MAF cut on the truck and waited. Truck ran better but no check engine light! So I turned off the truck and turned it back to run only to find that the light is not there. On these trucks do you use a jumper wire to see what codes pop up or is there a connector you use to see what codes pop up.

Thanks

David

You have an OBD1 system and as Buzz said there is a red LED under the passenger seat that you can get the codes from. If you don't know how, send me your number and I'll walk you thru the process.

Here is a pretty good write up on the subject, with the pix and codes.

Thanks! I realize it's obd 1 which is why I was asking about how you check the codes. Some cars even tho it's obd 1 have connects you have to jump and a few had factory computers that would hook up and give you the codes. Thanks for the info on the light location as well as the links! I will look tonight. I'm kinda glad you don't have to have the check engine light to see what codes are popped.

Someone pulled the bulb, easy to do, you can replace it easily enough.
Lower the steering wheel, remove the 2 screws, wiggle the instrument bonnicle off, replace missing bulb.
Our Volvo had the jumper wire thing under the hood, you counted the blinks of the light for your codes, you also cleared them and reset the oil change reminder too.
