Oil on engine Block

Default Oil on engine Block

I have an oil leak somewhere on my engine for my 1997 Disco. Oil is on the top part of the engine block and i also leak oi when I am parked. Does anyone know what is going on here?

Best guess is the valve cover gasket. Try tightening the bolts with an 8mm socket. There's tons of threads if you search "valve cover gasket."

Is this the main possibility on why oil would be on the top right side of the engine block? It is almost as if it is slowly leaking over on the right side when I drive it.

Could also be a valley pan gasket... also known as an intake manifold gasket.

Yes, tighten the bolts, clean all the oil off and see if the leak continues; if it does, then you might need to replace the gaskets. To clean the oil, you can use a can of brake parts cleaner, or if it's bad, a can of Gunk and a power washer.

I will try this and see what happens. I might take pictures to show what I am talking about.
