Alright regarding switching to diesel oil in a petrol engine, here's what Spike555 says:

"There are several benefits of using diesel motor oil in a petrol engine-

1-It is a heavy duty motor oil, meaning it is just as good as a full synthetic but half the price.

2-It is highly detergent, meaning it will clean the inside of your engine as you drive and keep it clean. If you were to start with a brand new engine and use only diesel oil you will never have any sludge problems.

No you do not need a special oil filter, any oil filter that fits your car will work just fine, I use NAPA Gold oil filters.

But you might want to use cheap ones for the first 2 oil changes since they are going to be "short" oil change intervals, that will save you a few dollars.

The easiest way to remove the oil pan is to put the truck on jack stands, supported by the frame and NOT the axle.

This will allow the axle to hang down as far as it can and this will give you enough room to remove the oil pan."

With that said- you be the final judge. I'm switching to diesel oil because my engine has poor performance and is likely caked with years of sludge buildup and debris. Yes I may be taking a risk, but a risk may just postpone the inevitable engine rebuild!

I went to Walmart and was going to get the Rotella, but they were OUT of it, do I ended up bying the MAXLIFE synthetic blend which was really very good. My engine immediately began running qieter than ever, smoother, felt more responsive and the occasional little tapping noise it had went away.

I was absolutely amazed. And the 5 quart jug was on sale tere for 16 bucks. I just got two more jugs of it at Advance for 18 a jug. By the quart the stuff is 6 bucks or more though.

the reasoning behind deisel oil is that it has more anti wear agents because it doesn't have to adhear to stricker emission standards of "passenger car" oil. things like zinc that regular oil used to have but has been removed or greatly reduced to meet standards.

If have a 2” lift. I jack the left side up to let the suspension hang lower. Unbolt the oil pan, drop it down, spin it around, then lower it out the back. I’m not kidding. Works every time.
